God is our Hope

March 3rd, 1942

Dear Diary,
Parnell left, just two hours ago. We all crowded into the platform of the train station, and waited for him to board his ride. He wished us all well, and when he came lastly to me, I lifted my head to see him, and forced a hopeful smile.
“Bye, Parnell.”
“God made you for this time, for a purpose, Vatrana. And I already know half of that purpose. Trust Him…and don’t worry.”
My eyes lit up with confusion. I don’t know what he was talking about. But all I do know is that he kissed me lightly on my head, and said,
“You’ll always be in my prayers.”
And then ran he off, and boarded the train it chugged away. I felt hot tears slide carelessly down my pink cold cheeks. And though I was standing in two feet of snow, when he told me those words, I felt as though I were on eagle’s wings, soaring high above this wretched war, and above the Nazi’s, above Baylen’s death, above the troubles, above my heartaches. Suddenly everything became clear. God is the One that can help me. For, that, my readers, is what Parnell has been trying to tell me. That he cannot take away my pain, but He can. And right then and there, I sunk to my knees, and wept.

Thoughts of the Day

What a beautiful glorious spring day!  The wind is lightly blowing through the trees.  I look out my window and see the grass gently swaying in the wind.  I love spring!

Spring is definitely my favorite time of the year!  A time of new beginnings, renewal, of starting over, of getting a second chance to do something right!  Sheer glorious sunrises, brilliant pinks dazzle the eastern sky...sometimes it is crisp, sometimes rainy, sometimes a clear beautiful sunny day like today, that makes me want to go for a run!

The children are playing outside, swinging upside down on the swing; I hear giggles and see smiles of their sheer joy.

Take time to enjoy the nature that God has blessed us with!  I purchased some dark pink begonias and purple violas and placed them in a basket on the front porch.  A small thing, but it allows me to enjoy the beauty of flowers and the sheer enjoyment of God's creation...

Psalm 19:1 and 2

The Heavens declare the glory of God;
And the firmament shows His handiwork.
Day unto Day utters speech,
And night unto night reveals knowledge.

God Bless!

The True Meaning of Easter

The true meaning of Easter is not about Easter bunnies, chocolate or fake green grass.  The true meaning of Easter is the wonderful plan of God to redeem us (to save us) from our sin....

EASTER was crucial in God's perfect plan to save a people,
from the bondage of sin to a relationship with Himself.

Do you know the Bible says that your best efforts are like filthy rags to God who is holy, loving and just?

Isaiah 64:6 says..."For all of us have become like one who is unclean,
And all our righteous deeds are like a filthy garment."

"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God..."
"For the wages of sin is death"  Romans 3:23, 6:23

Jesus obeyed God's law perfectly and took YOUR punishment for YOUR sin on the cross, so that you can be righteous before God and not perish.

Jesus said in John 11:25, "I am the resurrection and the life;  he who believes in Me will live even if he dies, and everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die."

Turn from you sin, my friend, Trust in Jesus and His work of salvation...Believe on Him today!

Scripture of the Week

Psalm 23:1-4
The Lord is my sheperd, I shall not want.  He makes me to lie down in green patures.  He leads me beside still waters.  He restores my soul.
He leads me in paths of righteousness for His name's sake.
Yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil.  For you are with me.  Your rod and your staff they comfort me.

Faith in Wartime

October 24th, 1941
Blaye, France
Dear Diary,

Today I went to the store with Bless, to buy some sugar and flour, my hand clutching Mama’s list tight and with the other I grasped my woolen scarf, for it was terribly windy. The streets have changed so differently now…no longer are they quiet and peaceful.  Instead they bring thoughts of fear and dread in my soul, as I walk past each Nazi soldier on every street corner.  I try to recite the 1st Psalm in my head, as I walk past them, but my thoughts seem to be snatched away when my eyes meet a young soldier’s cold eyes…filled with hate, and darkness. God, save him. I think, as I hurry past. Though they are cruel, and have taken over my homeland, I won’t forget the reason why…their lost, as I once was.
